The Yaesu FT-710 is one of Yaesu’s most popular SDR transceivers. It delivers exceptional value — offering advanced digital features and great receiver performance at the price of an entry-level radio. In many respects, it rivals the manufacturer’s more expensive flagship models.
However, Yaesu does not provide any official memory manager or programmer software for the FT-710 or for most of its other radios. As someone who regularly works with memory programming and configuration management, I found this to be a real limitation.
A simple programmer tool I developed for the FT-710
To address this need, I developed a small and simple Yaesu FT-710 memory manager software using Python. It’s not a polished commercial product — just a functional tool I created for my own use, and now I’m sharing it freely with the community.
Despite being under 200 lines of code, it already offers several useful features:
-
Connects to the FT-710 via CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) protocol,
-
Reads memory slot data such as frequency and mode,
-
Allows manual overwriting of memory channels,
-
Includes a basic graphical user interface (GUI) for easy operation.
Please note: The software is still in active development. In upcoming versions, I plan to add:
Deletion of individual memory slots,
Memory slot copy/move functionality,
Full import/export to Excel (XLS) format for backup and editing.
How to download and use it
The software runs on Windows. There’s no installer — just run the exe file directly after downloading. (portable application)
